Google’s playable Pac-Man logo celebrates 30th anniversary, wreaks havoc
OK, so I’m not a video game addict, but I’m a fun addict to the “nth” degree and I feel like Google just punked me.
Fun addict, pleasure seeker, feel-good junkie … call it what you will, but I was born with too much of the “avoidance factor” gene. Avoiding work and feeding my addiction for fun is just something I’ve dealt with seemingly my entire life.
Enter Google’s logo, which is today a playable game of Pac-Man. It’s Google’s way of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the addictive video game … and causing millions of people’s Google searches to take a detour, resulting in a combined billions of minutes of wasted work time.
They say misery (and Pac-Man addicts) loves company, so I’m assuming there are millions of you out there that are simply going to Google for a very important search, see the playable Pac-Man logo, and get derailed. Oh, the horror … the horror!
I, myself, was simply going to conduct a search on World Cup 2010 social media mania in order to write a story and I ended up spending 15 minutes on Google Pac-Man…
…and another good chunk of time writing this blog post!
